Mermaid Wedding Dresses - a Revival in Popularity

Mermaid wedding dresses are having a revival in popularity. You will find many celebrities opting for this design over the traditional casual wedding dress style, because mermaid wedding dresses accent the curves of a woman's body more than any other style. But don't get caught up in the romance of dressing like your favorite star, there are definitely reasons to choose to wear it or avoid it altogether.
There are two inspirations for mermaid wedding dresses to be popular and romantic. The first, of course, is the mermaid. The siren of the sea that is so beautiful that she can lure men to their death. While there is also the Disney version of the sweet young mermaid who longs to be human and struggles to do so to be with her prince. The second inspiration is the actual source of the dress design, the flamenco dance. The flamenco is a dance of passion and love, one that would have well suited the siren of the sea had she had legs to dance with.
Although this mermaid style wedding dresses are so beautiful that almost every women want to try them on, it would be dishonest to say that there are people who should avoid this kind of dresses at all costs. These dresses are made for a very particular body type, either those without any curves at all, or those that would be termed as "subtly curved." The popular term for curvaceous women, or women who are big, will not look well in this dress. There is too much emphasis on the form fitting above the dramatic flair for a woman with large hips to wear a mermaid trumpet wedding dress well. The impact will be one of imbalance and make her appear disproportionate.
